Retainers

We provide retainers after the completion of your orthodontic treatment to help your teeth stay in their new position. At Braces & Faces Orthodontics, we offer three retainers to our patients:

  • Bonded retainers
  • Removable Essix retainers
  • Invisalign® Vivera retainers
Retainers

Bonded retainers

A bonded retainer is essentially a thin piece of wire that is permanently attached to the back of your 4-6 front teeth.
It isn't visible but you will be able to feel it with your tongue, however, you’ll likely become used to it quite quickly and forget it's there.

The most significant benefit of a bonded retainer is that you can’t lose it and other than brushing it when you're cleaning your teeth, there is no upkeep.

Essix removable retainers

Essix retainers are a clear, removable retainer, designed to fit your specific teeth. They are usually worn for a year or more after treatment, sometimes only needed at night. When the time comes for your treatment to finish, Dr Salima Visram will advise you how regularly to wear yours to maintain your new smile.

Vivera
retainers

Vivera retainers are made by Invisalign® and are designed to be worn in the same way. This strong solution will help to prevent any movement of the teeth and will self-correct any minor relapses or movements post-treatment.
